Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark Wiki

Sealand is the title of a song recorded by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and first released on their third studio album Architecture & Morality in November 1983. With a running time of approx 7:45, it was at the time the longest OMD track to have been released. It features as the fourth and final track on Side One of the original album. It is a joint Humphreys/McCluskey composition.

Sealand has since been recognised as a 'classic' OMD track and is still performed live. it has also recently been included on some retrospective compilation albums.

Live[]

The song was first performed live on the Architecture & Morality tour, beginning November 1981, typically as one of the opening tracks after the Architecture & Morality intro tape and The Romance of the Telescope. It does not however feature on the Live At The Theatre Royal Drury Lane video recording. There is no evidence of it being performed on successive tours during the eighties or nineties, although it did naturally feature on the Architecture & Morality & More tour in 2007 as the first performed track (after the intro tape).

Likewise it was performed at Dazzle Ships at The Museum Of Liverpool in 2014, Architecture & Morality / Dazzle Ships – Live at the Royal Albert Hall in 2016, and at YOUME&OMD and the Architecture & More Tour in 2021.

Sealand was also performed Live With the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018.
